Thing 3 Is Utilities

This Thing is a way to showcase apps that can be helpful in everyday life.

Many of the apps featured in Thing 3 will have more options in a larger city. Being a rural dweller the apps are pretty bare bones when they are turned on at home.

After downloading the Free Wi-Fi Finder from Apple's App Store, I realized this would have been great for a couple of people I know who went to Arizona for a few weeks. Being spoiled, they and all of their friends have Wi-Fi in their homes up here. When they stayed with some friends in Arizona they were very surprised not to have Wi-Fi in the house. If they had called this it would have been so much easier to find the nearest free Wi-Fi.

Free Wi-Fi Finder would be a great app to recommend to people who come into the library to research upcoming trips. It could also be good way to pull people into the library.

After downloading iHome Sleep, it was a big let down. The alarm got set for a Saturday so the normal alarm could be left alone. It didn't go off that Saturday. The next weekend we were trying to figure out where that weird beeping was coming from since it finally went off. It also wasn't the easiest app to figure out right after opening. It probably didn't help that it was after midnight during the first use.

Since I'm currently not a big social media person, the ability to have iHome Sleep update you on what was posted overnight is lost on me. Not being a news junkie, the news doesn't need to be checked first thing in the morning either. If a sleep schedule was trying to be adjusted or tracked this might be a handy app. I'll stick to my current alarm since I know it works and I wasn't impressed by the alarm choices iHome Sleep gave me.

If someone has time to search the App store you can find a lot of helpful things for your day to day life.
