Procrastinate to Evaluate in Thing 23

This has been a long blog experience. I've gotten into some things that I've been avoiding for some time. I made it through the process without signing up for Facebook!!!

Discover Another App in Thing 22

It's not hard to fall in love with Apps Gone Free. Everyday there are new apps you can get at no cost. In case of a missed day there is also the ability to go back and see if the previous few days' apps are still free. If it isn't an "EXPIRED" above the price it's still free!

Thing 21: Free-for-all is Not a Brawl

There are tons of great apps out there. You just have to know what your looking for. Many of them you don't know you need them until they are on your device.

Thing 20: Claim Your Game

Minion RushDespicable Me: Minion Rush was one of the first apps loaded on the new Christmas iPad. It took a few "oops" to catch on to the game's workings but it fast became very addictive. It was 60 days in a row before forgetting to play for the bapple daily prize.

Sewing Machines in Thing 19: Hobbies

Craftsy can become an addiction. Craftsy is a recent company that offers classes for crafters.

Here are the blurbs from their front page:
"With lifetime access to your classes, you can watch lessons at your preferred pace and easily revisit your favorite concepts with just a click."
"Ask your expert instructor questions to receive all the answers and feedback you need to succeed."
"Enjoy the classes anytime from the convenience of your home or even on-the-go with our mobile apps."
"Learn easily with helpful diagrams, engaging graphics and downloadable materials that walk you step-by-step through gaining skills."

The Today's Document App

Today's Document app was created by the National Archives. It's a great app for trivia or history buffs. It highlights a variety of items in the National Archives; each day a different piece of the archive is featured.

Finding Opportunity in Thing 17: Connecting to Community

Minnesota 511 is an app put out by MnDOT. It shows places drivers might have problems on the road that day. In the winter the roads are different colors to show the condition of that particular highway.  There are various symbols that represent what is going on at that incident. It could be a road closure for construction, an accident, watch for debris on the road, etc. A mixture of Minnesota agencies contribute to this app. The two most common are MnDOT and the Minnesota State Patrol.

Thing 16 What Was Gleaned

Audioboo sounds like the best thing of the lot.

Get Dramatic with Thing 15: Infographics

Infographics was fun but a bit of a challenge.

Set the Scene with Thing 14

This was a difficult Thing to get done. It's kind of hard to do thing with volume when you are working the front desk of the library.

I ran across a new app from Adobe called Voice. They term it as a video app so that is what I'm going with. It is an easy app to use. To start out title your idea, and pick out a structure to use.  All that is needed is to record something; this determines the length of time the image is shown. You can use an icon they provide, a photo from a variety of places, or use text. There is background music provided and you can change the theme to something that appeals..

I can see this as being a good web tool for libraries. It can be short and to the point and uses very bold graphics.

Your Reference Preference for Thing 11

Zinio is among our library's digital offerings. It is a pretty neat way to access magazines. The magazines stay in your account unless you remove the them from it. Recently they added back issues to our subscription. Items checked out from Zinio don't effect the item limit tied to your card in any way.

Thing 1 of 23 Mobile Things

Man, that title makes me think of Dr. Seuss.

It's taken a while to get this blog thing up and running. It got started with http://23mobilethingsmn.org for a work project. Some reading about blogs was needed before starting one. Luckily there happened to be a book on my local library shelf:
