There was plainly a reason why Pinterest was way down on the to do list. This could definitely become addicting.
Pinterest is a very good resource for libraries. Pinterest has some truly good display ideas and themes that a library could inspire them in their own setting. I particularly like the Monopoly themed pin in image 1. All you have to do search for "library displays" or "seasonal library" and the marvelous ideas can really galvanize the creative spirit.

Image 2 has some great ideas for displaying groupings of books so it
catches library patrons' attention. The blackboard in the picture with
all the blue books says,
"I Don't Remember the title,
but I know it's BLUE."
I especially like this idea because we have had this request repeatedly at our library.

It can be pretty cool seeing how different people interpret the same idea. Even before joining Pinterest our library had a similar theme going this year in the display cabinet of "April Showers Bring May Flowers," like the center pin in image 3 but with books.
This is a great resource for librarians when a display needs to be changed and the creative juices are going "duh." Just checking out what other people are doing for their library or that time of year can inspire you to create something great.
I can also see boards being made available to the public that would tie into programs or displays the library is showcasing.
That's just some of what it can do for libraries. I can see myself spending masses of time on this site. As a person who goes off on tangents, I can find myself on a thoroughly different topic, a far piece from where the starting point was. This could be a prodigious time squanderer. The ability to organize topics on "boards" to your liking is wonderful. One outstanding feature is all the different ways pictures can be uploaded to Pinterest. One of my favorite things to search for on Pinterest is different kinds of cake and the various ways to decorate them. The best cake, so far, is the rainbow cake on the right. It is so bright and cheery and fairly simple looking to make.
